Living Without Regret
Why and what do people regret? Do we regret not spending enough time with our children? Do we regret not giving that extra effort in the marriage? Do we regret not taking a stand for something we believe in? Or, is it that we are wishing for a different outcome than the one we are experiencing now? If that is the case and we are merely wanting what is to no longer be the way it is, we may be forgetting that we are the Divine Beings who created it in the first place.
In order to create or experience something, a choice must first be made on some level, whether it be the soul or the ego. From choices based on our level of consciousness and perspective at any given time, an action either will or will not ensue. If there is no choice made, then there would be nothing to regret. You cannot be held responsible nor logically feel responsible for something you had no role in. Albeit, there are those who do feel responsible even when they are not, as well as those who will try to make you feel responsible when you are not.
What is the premise of regret based upon? In order to wish or desire you had done something differently, you must first become aware that there was either a more appropriate or beneficial action or inaction that you could have taken. That self-awareness could result from being at a higher level of consciousness and realizing the error of your ways, or, from being able to directly witness how you may have negatively affected others or yourself. Either way, you have come to the conclusion that you could have chosen differently in order to avoid negative or even harmful consequences.
The positive side of regret is the effect it has on someone if felt sincerely and deeply: Learning how not to re-create anything else that may cause you to feel that uncomfortable heavy conscience. In that regard, those negative emotions are assisting you in taking more time and care in order to choose wisely. The negative side of regret occurs when there is nothing you can do to change what has already been done, yet, you spend valuable time and energy wishing things were different.
What is wishing? Wishing is experiencing a hope or desire for something that you do not currently have in your possession whether it be a desire based on fantasy or reality. The important point to remember here is that there is a lack, something is missing, something is needed, something is wanted that does exist in the manner you would like it to exist at this time.
What is the desire for? What are you craving for when you experience the emotions of regret, remorse or sadness? You are wanting things to be different to the way they are. You are desiring to change the consequences of your actions and therefore the situations and circumstances that have resulted from them. However, by wishing things were different, you lose out on what the soul would consider a treasure in the spiritual world.
What is this treasure, that might be lost by not seeing the perfection in everything you do? You lose out on the opportunity to know yourself in a grander, more expansive manner than you have been able to before. You lose out on the value that each and every situation and circumstance has in your life. And, what is that value? It is the value of growth. It is the value of the opportunity the soul has to ascend to a higher level of consciousness while dwelling in the earthly realms. Why is it valuable for the soul to grow and evolve to higher more subtle levels of consciousness? It is of immense value because if the soul does not evolve while living in the physical realm it will not be able to maintain enough self-awareness in the higher realms. If the soul can not sustain consciousness in those higher levels where unconditional love, acceptance, equanimity, honesty, wisdom and grace are the normal vibrations then the soul will have to remain in the lower dense realms where it is very easy to forget that you are an eternal, infinite Spirit Being having a very temporary human experience. You will remain in a world where everything and everyone is temporary and the sadness of that reality is that you may never know the bliss and tranquility found in the dimension you once knew as home.
Live without regret; see your soul behind everything you do and know that each moment is precious and perfect. While dwelling on earth remember who you are and you will open the gates to Heaven, and regardless of where you choose to exist, you will always be Home.
And It Is So. And It Is So. And It Is So.
